Summer Girls

My super fun girlfriend Ann and I have been wanting our daughters to meet so we made plans to spend the day together yesterday. It was a perfect day! We met for a late breakfast and then did some shopping and junking in downtown Glendale.

Found some great vintage Disney goodies at Bo's Funky Stuff and A Mad Hatter on Glendale Ave! It was so fun, the girls at so much alike and really hit it off so lucky to have these girls in our life!

High School?

Um when did this happen!?!?
Friday night was Emily's 8th grade promotion! I am so proud of her, she worked so hard this year and it all paid off! We were so happy my parents could come home for the week from Creede to come to the ceremony.

Emily receiving her diploma from Headmaster Bishop and Assistant Headmaster Chapman

Saying goodbye to a favorite teacher! Mrs. Feilu who has been Emily's Lit Comp teacher for the past two years won't be back next year and all the kids were so sad with this news. Everyone was wanting a picture with her! She is a special teacher, and made a real impact on Emily's love of reading! Thank you Mrs. Feilu!

Maddi and Emily!

Spring is here.....

I have been a lazy blogger the last month but there has been a LOT going on!

Spring break came and went and for us that usually means Disney! We spent 5 days at Disneyland this year and had an absolute blast, the weather was beautiful and did so many things!

This year we decided to buy annual passes so you can bet we will be going back really soon!

Oh yeah on other little Disney related thing....a few of my friends and I decided that we were going to do the Disneyland Half Marathon, Labor Day weekend! Yea I know what you're thinking.....how the heck are you going to run a half marathon! Well I can assure you there will not be a lot of running involved! I did two other half marathons about 10 years ago, when my feet and knees were about 10 years younger and swore I would not do another! But the girls I am running with are simply the BEST and the idea of running through Sleeping Beauty's Castle and down Main Street USA, through California Adventure and around the bases at Angels Stadium was a pretty big incentive! So I have been walking several days a week building up my speed and distance and with just about another 5 months to go I am sure I'll be all set!

One other teeny tiny little thing! For all of you who have been living under a rock somewhere....I have been contracting for about the last 18 months and really liking my job, but not so much liking the uncertainty that comes along with having to wonder if your contract would be resigned every 3 months. I found out in February that it was a pretty good chance I would not get renewed past the end of March....SO i started sending out resumes and found there were more jobs posted than I had thought there might be.....Well it only took one resume it seems! I went through 4 interviews and was offered an Senior Quality Assurance position in Scottsdale with Go Daddy! I guess that makes me a Go Daddy Girl...yea not so much! I started last week and am absolutely loving it so far! The team I am working with is fantastic, I am going to be working in the group that develops all their internal applications. It is such a great company and I am so excited for the opportunity to work there!

We took our Kayaks out today for the first time this year and had a wonderful Easter Sunday paddling around Bartlett Lake, we spotted an owl and a blue heron. It was a great day and hope we can get out on the water again soon!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful spring!

My Dad Rocks!

We've had a fun week around here...Emily just finished her spring session of rock climbing club at school and we've been climbing with some good freinds at AZ on the rocks a few times a month for the past 6 months or so. My dad had been wanting to see Emily climb so we invited him to go with us.....well he thought he was just coming to watch Emily, but we were pretty sure he needed to climb...after watching the training video and some hands on time with one of the great instructors he was off and climbing even learned how to belay (that's the person who holds the ropes of the climber) and was able to belay for both Em and I.

Good looking legs for a 62 year old...

Em shows us how it's done on one of the harder routes.

Oh and then there was this.....My rockin' dad was honered by the Arizona Golf Association with the Dr Ed Updegraff Award. The AGA's highest honor given in recognition of distinguished sportsmanship in golf. Emiy and I were lucky to be able to join my parents, grandmother, brother and sister in law at Phoenix Country Club for the AGA's anual meeting where my dad was presented with this great honor.

Way to go dad we love you, you definitely ROCK!

Look at that smile!

Yesterday was the big day and Emily's braces are off!
Her teeth look beautiful!
Well worth all the days waiting in the Orthodontist office and two years of no sticky candy!
